Are On The Border® Products Lactose-Free?
These products do have lactose: 5-Cheese Fiesta chips, Guacamole Chips, Salsa con Queso. As far as our other products, the facilities that produce chips carry ingredients that have lactose in them. These are used on the same lines where lactose-free products are made. Manufacturing facilities adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and systems and procedures in place to prevent cross contamination but we cannot guarantee that they will always be free of milk-containing allergens or sensitizes such as lactose. That is why we label the product as containing milk.
These products do have lactose: Salsa con Queso, Creamy Monterey Jack Queso, Monterey White Queso, and Golden Cheddar Queso. Other On The Border products do not contain lactose but may be produced in a facility that uses ingredients that contain lactose. These facilities adhere to strict Good Manufacturing Practices in order to prevent contamination with allergens or sensitizers such as lactose. However, even with the strictest care, we cannot guarantee that all OTB products are lactose free.
