Can different species of spiders walk on each others webs ?
Note that there are two general kinds of spiders, burrowers and web spinners, more or less. Spiders that build webs to catch prey need to be able to walk on their own webs, so they have specially shaped hooks and claws that grasp each web fiber to attach and release without getting stuck in it, and without disturbing the structure. Other spiders don’t have these same hook / claw mechanisms, and can’t walk on another spider’s web as well without disturbing it and getting stuck or caught pulling the strings. Spiders are opportunists, and will generally eat anything they can get their fangs into, from tiny insects to small mice and birds. A web spinner will likely sit around its web and wait for something to disturb it. Others will burrow a hole and wait for something to wander by, and pounce on it.
