Async/Sync – How do I convert from asynchronous to synchronous data?
A. To convert from asynchronous to synchronous data the control information must removed. To convert the other way, control information must be added. The redundant control information is the start and any stop bits. Stop bits can often be ignored because they are at the same level as an idle line. Other information, such as parity bits, are error detection information and may be ignored but this is system dependent.
