Is PaPa Simpsons Farm a petting zoo?

0

PaPa Simpsons Farm allows visitors to pet a few baby animals. The female visitors even get to kiss a pig. A cross section of farm animals are exhibited and visitors are educated about a few basic facts of each animal. Crops grown on the farm, a vegetable garden, fruit trees, and berries are given equal importance during the tour. Visitors are given a geography and history lesson with the Louisiana Hay Maze. But the most important part of the tour is that visitors get to witness and experience the aesthetic value of the rolling hills, pastures, trees, and a working farm that God has shared with our family.

My husband and I drove over 100 miles to bring our three kids to this farm yesterday.  To say that it was a complete disappointment would be an understatement!  The website boasts of many things that simply were not there.  First of all the pumpkin patch had NO pumpkins!  There were a few pumpkins about the size of ornamental pumpkins for wreaths, etc., but that was it.  Secondly the fishing pond had almost NO water!  So there was no fishing.  There is a cute picture on the website of two kids with a huge string of fish, but that wasn’t going to happen.  The website also boasts of a corn maze.  There was also NO corn maze!!  They told us the "corn didn’t grow this year".  We of course figured this out AFTER we paid $50 for admission.  There was a man pulling kids around in a homemade train, creating a dust bowl atmosphere.  There was a playground slide that was attached at the top to several bales of hay.  This was by far the best attraction.  The problem however was the slide was too high and therefore too steep.  The kids came down too fast and crashed into the hard ground below.  There was a good size hole dug out of the dirt from the kids landing so hard.  The animals were not well taken care of.  There was a chicken with almost all of its feathers plucked out!  My kids got to witness two roosters violently attacking a duck in a pin.  There was also a goat with an open wound on its forehead.  And last but not least there was an emaciated cow that was literally skin and bones!  I am not sure where the "aesthetic value of the rolling hills" was supposed to be since there was absolutely NO grass where the cows, pigs and goats were living!  Furthermore, the cows were eating corn out of a trough along with the pigs and goats!  Absolutely unbelievable!  I would never recommend this "farm" to anyone.  I really can’t believe that people would go to this place more than once.
