Part 211, Underground Storage Tank Regulations, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended, requires that owners register USTs that are being used, or have been used, to store regulated substances, unless the USTs have been properly closed or removed and notification provided to the Waste and Hazardous Materials Division (WHMD). An owner means any person who owns, or owned at the time of release, a UST used for storage, use, or dispensing of regulated substances.
