What is a sea cliff where is it found?
Sea Cliffs made simple – high, rocky coasts – plunge down to the sea’s edge – waves and sea spray shape the homes at the base of a sea cliff (mollusks, crabs and echinoderms find shelter behind rocky outcrops or tucked within tiny crevices) – wind, weather, and sun shape the homes at the top of a sea cliff (edges at the top of a cliff provide ideal habitat for small mammals, reptiles, and birds) – found all over the world – lots of examples – very often found near the tectonic plates – plates pushing against each other cause uplift of land idea but not all formed that way – some just from plain old erosion eating away at the land – the waves erode the coastal area making an indent into the land, the earth above the indent collapse leaving a cliff – this is called wave cut platform – see link http://www.rgs.edu.sg/events/geotrip/cli… – some cliffs are made because of glaciation – fjords
