When you saw Francis Collins being interviewed in “Religulous” didn you feel an overpowering urge…?
I didn’t see Religulous yet, but I’ve heard Francis Collins speak in interviews before. He does sound kind of nerdy, but then again he is a scientist and intellectual. For those not familiar with him do a search on Youtube and there are many clips of interviews with him. Fresh Air on NPR did back to back interviews between him and Richard Dawkins as part of a “science vs religion” piece. Collins was, of course, the “science and religion are compatible” proponent. The thing that really struck me was his nearly point for point congruence of beliefs with Richard Dawkins on nearly every subject but the existence of god and whether god put evolution into motion or it just happened on its own. ID’ers are so proud of him, but if most of them actually listened to what he had to say they’d be flabbergasted. He freely acknowledges that the earth is billions of years old, that life evolved through natural selection, etc. His only bow to religiosity is that he thinks god set it all in motion, line
