Can doxycycline treat UTI?

0

I recently had a UTI and was actually surprised when I was prescribed Doxycycline. This UTI was the worst of all three that I have experienced. There was blood in my urine and the pain was absolutely unbearable. I was hesitant to take doxy at first, because I had never been prescribed any other antibiotic other than penicillin and amoxycillin. I actually found several different sites that said doxycycline can be used to treat UTIs. I was also surprised to see what it is mainly used for (certain STDs). I decided to go for it and took my first pill in the evening, and by the time I woke up, the UTI was nearly gone. It only took another ten hours or so before I felt completely fine, but I completed the presciption anyway, to be safe. I would say that doxy worked better than AZO, cranberry juice, cranberry pills, or any other medication I have tried. It doesn’t hurt to drink tons of water and cranberry juice also.
