Why does CBG development produce water?

0

CBG exists within the coal seam where it is adsorbed (attached) to the coal. Pressure from the water within the coal cleats (fractures) keeps the gas adsorbed onto the coal. Pumping the water out of the coal seam lowers the pressure in the coal seam. Once the pressure is reduced the gas releases from the coal and flows out of the well.
