What are some quiet pet birds?
Next to a Pionus, Poicephalus birds are the quietest parrots. Poicephalus birds include Senegals, Red Bellieds, Meyers, Uncaped, Jardines, Ruppells and Brown-headed. The most common are the Senegals, Red Bellieds and Jardines. These guys are quiet, but don’t expect them NOT to make noise. They are not screaming birds in general, but the screaming behavior can be taught by US humans. But in general, they are absolute silencers compared to conures, macaws, cockatoos, etc. I have a Red Bellied Parrot and he does not scream at all. He does his daily call with includes a few high-pitches, but they aren’t loud at all. Instead of screaming, he loves to talk. He knows about 30+ words in his vocabulary.
