Is Dilaudid good for treating migraines?
The problem with treating migraine headaches with narcotics is that they can cause very bad rebound headaches that are often times worse than the original headache that was being treated. That being said, I have had a couple of occasions that I had to go the ER to get my migraine under control and they used the same combo of Benedryl, Zofran, and Dillaudid on me too. It took away the pain almost immediately and allowed me to rest and sleep the remainder of the migraine off at home. But, this should only be done occasionally because your body will figure out what is going on and the migraine will break through the Dillaudid too. There is not much left in the narcotic medication category after you get used to Dillaudid, other than morphine and Fentinyl patches. You need to see a Pain Management specialist that specifically treats migraines. There are some other preventative meds out there like Amitriptyline, Neurontin, and a couple of BP medications like Verapamil. But a doctor that only
