Some mothers are determined never to breastfeed – perhaps based on previous experiences or word of mouth – but it is certainly worth attempting. Many mothers will stop once the baby starts to develop teeth while some will continue to breastfeed for years. “Busy” mothers (usually those with career or other obligations) often pump breastmilk for their baby and then bottlefeed – this is also a great way to get dad involved with the process.
