How long has Metropolitan Mama been around?
A. Metropolitan Mama launched in January 2007 (when my daughter was four months old) and I’ve never looked back! I love the “sense of community” that blogging provides and I’m always amazed at how many intelligent, influential, and innovative people I “meet” in and around the blogosphere. Q. Why “Metropolitan”? You don’t even live in a big city! A. My city actually does have a million people in it, thank you very much (Don’t laugh if you’re from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, or Phoenix)! But really – the name isn’t based on “city life” in the literal sense. It’s really a metaphor. To me, being a parent is a lot like navigating through a big city – there’s excitement and adventure and a bit of monotony when you’re driving around in standstill traffic. There is plenty to learn and so many new sites to see. That’s how motherhood is too. So I’m here along this journey with you.
