Who can incinerate hazardous waste?
Hazardous waste incineration is a public service of the Generalitat, government of Catalonia. It is the public administration through the company PTRES, where the owner of the Constant incinerator plant has majority capital. Moreover, the incinerable waste collection and treatment service is given through a concession subject to direct public control. The company GRECAT, in the corresponding tender called by the Junta de Residus (now the Agncia de Residus de Catalunya), was awarded the public service. Therefore, any company that generates incinerable waste must deal with them through GRECAT.
