Who has cheap furniture?
I repair furniture and upholstery for several retailers in the Chicagoland area. I can tell you from first hand experience that there are SEVERAL issues with leather and you may want to consider fabric instead. The main issue with leather is that across the board, from low-end (Ashley and so forth) to high end (Arhaus furniture, Ethan Allen, etc) is color loss. I’ve seen several sets that start to lose color within 6 months to a year, and the really sad part is that most extended warranties DO NOT cover color loss (they say that this is normal usage, which is bull since the color on leather used to last for 20 years). If they do, then you have to worry about the tech that is coming out to re-color the leather, often these techs will just spray paint the leather with a color that comes close, and within 2-3 weeks all that color starts to flake and peel away.
