What commercial work can be completed under a foundation only release from the Indiana Department of Fire and Building Safety?

A foundation release from the Indiana Department of Fire and Building Services allows for the excavating and foundation work to be initiated through a drainage, ILP, and structural permit prior to the full IDFBS release. Once the full release is obtained from the IDFBS, a new structural and improvement location permit will need to be obtained prior to the commencement of the construction of the building. If underslab plumbing and electrical work is required, it can be obtained by referencing the structural permit number for the permit pertaining to the foundation only. Once the building is up, additional electrical and plumbing permits will be required following the structural permit for the building.
