How Does OBPR fund research?

The Office of Biological and Physical Research solicits and selects research through a competitive peer review process using NASA Research Announcements (NRA) or Announcements of Opportunity (AO). Each research discipline develops research announcements utilizing input from the scientific community via science working groups, OBPR programmatic goals and available resources. The Enterprise Scientists at NASA Headquarters are responsible for developing the NRAs, assembling peer review panels, conducting the peer review process and making recommendations to the appropriate OBPR selection official who is responsible for the final selections. Please visit the OBPR Research Opportunities Web site for details. OBPR also funds biomedical research and countermeasures development through the National Space Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI). Please visit the NSBRI Web site for details.
