What is Neonatal jaundice?

0

A. Neonatal period jaundice is the yellow colour that is seen on babys skin and eyes soon after birth. This may start very soon after birth but may also start up to one week of age. It is mostly a common physiological problem which can last up to 2-3 weeks. It may become more obvious with breast milk feeding, but improves spontaneously. Breast feeding should continue unless advised otherwise by your doctor. What is very important to know that most cases of newborn jaundice are not going to be a problem for the baby and only a small number of babies need treatment, depending on the severity and cause for the jaundice. Please check with your doctor which type of jaundice your baby is suffering from, and if any tests or treatments are needed.
