What does a carbon filter do?
A carbon filter is used in virtually all beverage bottling plants as the accepted method to remove taste and odors from the water used in the production of bottled water, fruit juices, soda, sports drinks, beer, etc. Depending upon the type of activated carbon used, a carbon filter removes chlorine, chloramine, taste, odor, some organics, and/or color from your drinking water. To protect everyone on the water system, chlorine or chloramine is added to water by the company or municipality that provides your water. Taste, odor, organics, and/or color can be naturally occurring, or the result of improper industrial chemical usage and/or disposal. These problems can come from either underground or surface water sources, whether it is your personal well, community well, public water utility well, or a private water utility well.
