What is Glutamine?
Glutamine is not an essential amino-acid, and body has a capability of manufacturing this amino-acid from other amino-acids. For athletes this amino-acid is important because of extreme strains and stress, therefore we could say that glutamine is „conditionally essential amino-acid” for athletes. According to the latest studies, for bodybuilding purposes glutamine doesn’t have a significant significance. It improves our immune system, and anecdotally it improves muscle recovery. It is excellent though in cases of severe trauma (e.g. burns) because is greatly facilitates the healing process. The usual dose depends on how much you can afford to buy, because it is relatively expensive! Dosage varies from 5-40g. It is best taken as a PWM, but you can also take it before going to bed. The biggest consumers of glutamine are your brain and digestive system.
