What is I Sing the Body Electric?
I Sing the Body Electric is a coalition organized around a central focus to create an environment for youth to explore health issues and community healthy lifestyle choices to their peers and their communities. The Body Electric coalition is made up of organizations and individuals representing youth, parents, the business community, media, educators, youth-serving organizations, law enforcement, the faith community, civic groups, healthcare professionals and prevention professionals. The focus is on teens in seven counties in East-Central Illinois who serve their peers, parents and communities by participating in arts and prevention activities to communicate the art of healthy choices. Coalition organizational members include Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, the Regional Office of Education (Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie and Shelby counties in East-Central Illinois), Eastern Illinois University, Lake Land College, Paris Community Hospital and PBS affiliate WEIU-T
