Can a union picket a nonunion company?
Yes. A union can set up a picket line to organize the employees of a nonunion company. The picket line may remain for 30 days, after which a union must either file an election petition with the NLRB or cease picketing. A union can also picket a nonunion company to protest low wages that are inconsistent with union standards for the geographic area, or it can picket company that has allied itself with a primary employer with which the union has a legitimate labor dispute.
