What happens during coaching?
We work with our clients to define specific coaching objectives, including the type of improvement or change needed. Our clients use their actual work as the laboratory for pursuing improvement. For example, we might support a CEO to improve his or her ability to conduct individual executive performance appraisals including both formal reviews and ongoing performance conversations. During the year the company’s business calendar offers many opportunities to ‘shadow’ the client regarding select efforts, pinpoint opportunities for performance improvement and provide real-time guidance so the senior executive learns new approaches on the job. When we begin a coaching assignment we use existing data that may already identify development needs, as well as the executive development processes and instruments that may already exist within an organization.
