How will Welsh-medium provision be improved in the new College structures?
Increased Welsh-medium provision and uptake is a major and readily achievable target in the new academic structures. In the past, much of the Welsh-medium teaching expertise has tended to be clustered ‘locally’ around an individual or small group of academic staff within a School. The new academic structures will allow this teaching expertise to be applied and disseminated across the entire College. Wider Welsh-medium provision and uptake will be achieved in the first instance by offering bilingual ‘key skills’ modules across each College with future expansion of bilingual provision into School-specific modules. Where demand exists, the provision of Welsh-language modules will also be increased.
