What is Real Ear Attenuation Testing?

0

Real Ear Attenuation Testing (REAT) is a method of measuring how much noise reduction (“attenuation”) is provided by earplugs or earmuffs as worn by the worker. This is most typically done by measuring how well the worker hears without the hearing protector, then measuring how well the worker hears with the hearing protector. The difference between these with and without measures is the attenuation value of the hearing protector, also known as the Personal Attenuation Rating.
