How does the random music work?
The random features at HymnSite work by using a cgi (common gateway interface) script. To create random features like HymnSite’s, you need the following: • A script (Your ISP may have one available for you, or you could use one from another online source, or you could write one of your own) • A datafile containing all of the different pieces of information that you want to use for random display • Access to a directory that can execute files (You may not have this. Most ISP’s remove rights to execute programs due to the security risk that scripts can pose) • An shtml file that “calls” the script • A willingness to follow instructions for setting up the script, even if you don’t understand why. From this point, all I can say is–follow the instructions for the script. If you are told to put the script in the cgi-bin directory, do it.
