What is Stony Brook in St. Petersburg?
• Stony Brook in St. Petersburg is a unique program for future scholars and teachers to become deeply involved in Russia’s complex post-Soviet society by studying and working in St. Petersburg for a semester or academic year while living with a Russian family. • Students receive 15-18 Stony Brook credits • Students create their own program structure, by creating a balance between studying intensive Russian and other courses at St. Petersburg State University’s renowned Philological Faculty and working as a teacher-intern at a local high school. • The Internship program is modeled on the American Field Service’s 10 week teachers’ exchanges that placed visiting school teachers in High Schools during Soviet times and was the only teachers’ exchange at that time. • The program offers participants a unique perspective into post-Soviet Russian society by placing them in a true working environment with innovative and enthusiastic students, teachers, and educational administrators. • Culturall
