WHAT IS THE MERGE FIELD?
The Merge field is located in the upper fields of each contact to the right of the Country field. There is also a Merge field included with each additional contact under the Contacts tab. You can use merge codes as the basis for selecting contacts when generating mail merge correspondence. The Mail Merge Code feature allows contacts, both primary and additional, to be tagged for inclusion in certain mailing campaigns. Multiple merge codes are allowed per contact, separated by a space or comma. Examples such as, “PR, NL, BD” might represent codes which place the contact on the Press Releases, Newsletter and BDay card mailing lists. It’s a quick and easy way to filter both primary and additional contacts during a mail merge. To use the codes, simply create a filter using the Merge field. For example, the filter “Merge Contains BD” will gather all of the contact records that contain the BD merge code.
