How will the ministry ensure safety and protection of the environment and health for area residents?
The ministry is working with the Middlesex-London Health Unit, the City of London, the Community Liaison Group and the public to ensure the decommissioning work is undertaken in a manner that protects the neighbouring communities and the environment. The selected contractor will be required to remove the material in a manner that is fully protective of human health and the environment. This will include dust control, air monitoring, storm water control and monitoring, and site security. Trucks leaving the site must be washed to ensure no contamination is tracked onto the roads. The ministry will monitor pre-and post-decommissioning soil samples around the site.
