Do intensive plastering courses work?

They can work! I have played a part in the careers of hundreds of plasterers in the industry some of which work for themselves. The best plastering courses can work as a great starting point in plastering. If you want to be an expert in a few days, forget it! But if however you have releastic expectations you CAN gain entry to the industry through a short intensive course (albeit with some decent skills).

If you are looking for formal qualifications then a short course will be useless. Good plastering relies on good technique with some natural abilty. Unfortunately it’s not for everyone but give it a go you might suprise yourself. If you are from the North West take a look at http://www.tesop.co.uk/make_me_into_a_plasterer.asp

No because the most important thing you need to learn is technique and the skills involved in plastering a wall from scratch. How best to get a good finish can be explained but you need to practice this and other techniques to become a competent plasterer. Look at the CITB website for trade courses: http://www.cskills.org/search/index.
