What is the best rubber matting?
I would personally recommend equi-mat (you can find them online) however they can be expensive, a cheaper alternative, is the Robinsons EVA matting, which is very light and easy to lift, but equally well cushioned. You dont say if you are on a straw or shavings deep litter. I would personally suggest a shavings deep litter, as it creates a softer bed, whereas straw can go hard (ish). The robinsons EVA matting isnt as hard wearing as their other matting, however I really dont recommend their normal matting for your intended usage, as it is harder and doesnt give much cushioning. I presume that she doesnt have any studs fitted at the moment, if not then remove them as they will damage the matting, and she shouldnt be bedding down with them in anyway. Also you will need to change to a plastic fork if you go onto rubber matting, as the metal ones damage the surface, and allows the urine to seep into the actual mat (leads to rotting), plastic pitch forks can be hard to find and use.
