What’s new at Bridon Cordage?
We’ve been perfecting the science of manufacturing baler twines in Albert Lea, Minn., since 1976. Larry Madson has been with us for 29 of those years. Larry is not alone in his longevity; the average years of service for our hourly employees at our Albert Lea facility is over 11 years. And even though our Canadian factory is only 11 years old, the average years of service across all three of our North American factories is over 10 years! Bridon has four 12-hour shifts, allowing us to maximize efficiencies by producing twine 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Larry works a rotating schedule of 3/5/4 (3 nights on, 5 nights off, 4 nights on) then 4/5/3. He is no stranger to hard work either. Before working at Bridon, Larry was in road construction. He also farmed for 25 years; a job he did while working at Bridon. “The flexible schedule enabled me to work on the farm and in the factory.” Larry started out rotating through extrusion, spooling, and packaging; today he is the technician in
