(1) You must ensure that all band wheels are completely encased or guarded on both sides. Guards must be constructed of at least No. 14 U.S. gauge metal, nominal two-inch wood material, or mesh or perforated metal of at least U.S. gauge No. 20 with maximum openings of three-eighths inch. (2) You must ensure that all nonworking portions of the band saw blade are enclosed or guarded. The working side of the blade between the guide and the table may be left open to work on the stock. (3) You must ensure that the guard for the portion of the blade between the sliding guide and the upper-saw-wheel guard protects the saw blade at the front and outer side.
