Do most pet stores spay the dogs?
Heck, no! They put as little money into dogs as they can…they are all about buying as cheap as possible (from puppymills) and selling for as much as possible. They sell ill-bred dogs for outrageous prices (you can buy a GOOD dog from a GOOD breeder for less in most cases). They often even encourage people to breed the dogs to get their investment back when making their hard sell. I doubt that there is a single pet store that would bother to spay or neuter…most don’t even bother with keeping the dogs healthy. Stay far away from pet stores. Rescue groups and shelters will most often spay or neuter, or require that you do so in a reasonable time and provide proof to them that it has been done. Good breeders will also require their pet placements to be spayed or neutered (some will offer a rebate for that, as well).
