Is Teleschool part of Hawaii Public Television (KHET)?

0

Teleschool is not part of Hawaii Public Television. The Teleschool Branch is part of the Hawaii Department of Education’s Curriculum, Instruction and School Support (OCISS). Because the DOE does not have its own broadcast channel to transmit over it must partner with other agencies to transmit programming which sometimes lead people to believe that Teleschool is part of the agency transmitting the programming. Teleschool works closely with HPTV but is not the same. HPTV is a non-profit organization. Teleschool broadcasts some programming over HPTV’s KHET channel and uses its studio for some of the production work. Prior to cable TV in Hawaii all of the DOE’s programming was transmitted over HPTV’s KHET.
