What do guinea pigs need?
Guinea pigs need a clean dry cage, about the same as a rabbit size, or a large aquarium. The bottom should have wood chips or pellets, changed whenever soiled. There should be a water bottle hung on the outside of the cage with a little drip spout that allows water to come out when they lick it or a heavy bowl of water. they eat pellets from a pet store or from the supermarket and also a little alfalfa. They like dandelion greens and carrots, lettuce, apples, for a treat. They need to be kept clean. Bathe them if their skin gets oily, but make sure you don’t get water in their eyes or ears. If they start scratching, you are probably bathing them too much and their skin is dry, so stop giving them so many baths. They should stay in a heated room, no garage for winter. You should also try to get Vitamin c drops to put in their water every day. Change the water daily because some guinea pigs will spit out food into it. That’s the basic care tips.
