What do hamsters do?
It depends on the hamster. Some hamsters will run on their wheels for miles and miles, while others will knaw for hours. Hamsters are rodents and their actions are pretty much dictated by their instincts and their environment (ie what we provide for them). If you’re asking in terms of wondering if a hamster would be a good pet, I’ll be honest that while I love hamsters, they are not the most exciting pet in the world. They are nocturnal so the majority of their activity happens while we sleep. Hamsters are very persistant – if you have a hamster who loves its wheel the hamster will run and run and run. This reflects its habits in nature (the “normal” hamsters that you see in pet stores, “golden”, “teddy bear”, “panda bear”, “black bear”, etc are all of the Syrian Hamster species that originated from the desert in Syria and Turkey.).
