What makes a good cup of coffee?
A good cup of coffee takes several ingredients. First, is the coffee itself. Always try to use the freshest coffee you can buy. Coffee starts losing its freshness and flavor the moment it is roasted. Coffee purchased from supermarkets can be several months old by the time you purchase it. Second, is the water. Water plays almost as an important role as the coffee in the brewing process. Water should be as soft and chemical free as possible. We highly recommend using filtered water for brewing good coffee. However, do not use spring water. Spring water contains many minerals that will form deposits in the coffee machine. Third, is the brewing equipment. Proper brewing equipment is a must to consistent coffee. A brewer must be able to heat the water to at least 190 degrees consistently. Most home brewers are unable to accomplish this, which is why we recommend using equipment that have internal hot water reservoirs that maintain a consistent temperature.
