How does greenhouse gases work?

0

The greenhouse effect occurs when the heat reflected from the earth’s surface is prevented from escaping into space by gases in the atmosphere. The main gases ( called greenhouse gases) which are responsible for this greenhouse effect are carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, methane, ozone and water vapour. As concentrations of these greenhouse gases build up in the atmosphere, they re-reflect more solar heat back to earth. So, these gases not only trap the heat which is reflected from the surface but also re-reflect the heat back to the surface keeping the atmosphere near the surface always warm.
