What is an optician?
An Optician is a Licensed Healthcare Professional, trained in the interpretation of prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses. In the optical industry, an Optician is similar to a pharmacist, filling prescriptions written by the Optometrist or Ophthalmologist. Training involves assisting selection of the proper frame and lens, based on the prescription, facial features, personality, lifestyle, and preferences of the individual.
