How do pigs have sex?
Well pigs do not have random sex as humans in fact very few mammals have sex unless they are in estrous. Sows (female pig) come into estrous every 18-21 days unless pregnant. As the sow enters estrous she enters what is known as standing heat, this is where she will stand for the boar to mount her. The boar’s penis is unlike most mammals as it is a corkscrew. The boar inserts the penis in the vulva and goes up about 2 foot (yes the boar’s penis is 2 foot long) and screws into cervix and locks into place. (Just a little side point this is where the slang word “screw” comes from). The sex act will take around 15 minutes and the boar produces around 200-250 ml or cc of semen. The boar then produces a jelly like substance to plug the cervix and keep the semen in the uterous. He then dismounts and usually goes finds a mudhole if available and relaxes and is very satisfied with himself. They may breed two or three times during estrous.
