What we have discovered is not only the sheer beauty of England’s countryside, but the amazing winemakers who are producing quality English wines and sparkling wines. Let’s face it, making wine is no easy task and the history of English wine has been rather erratic. Challenging the uncertainties of the English weather, extensive EU policies and the fiercely competitive wine market, English winemakers are to be applauded. Vineyards planted 30 years ago – now being harvested by the second and third generations of the families who created them – are producing award winning English wines. English Sparkling wines are proving a match to Champagne in many a blind tasting.
