Is English useful in Beijing?
Although all signs are both in Chinese and English it is only spoken by a small minority of the population. We therefore recommend getting a language guide before starting your in internship in Beijing. To get safe and fast to a destination you should know the address in both languages. All subway stops are indicated in Latin writing in comparison to the bus stops that are only indicated in Chinese. It is also rare to find a taxi driver speaking English so you should have someone write down the address for you in Chinese.
