Federal regulations outline the procedure for disposing of controlled substances (21 CFR 1307.21). The following is the disposal policy established by DEA’s Philadelphia Field Division (PFD) and the Office of Controlled Substances (OCS). (The PFD has jurisdiction over Pennsylvania and Delaware.) The purpose of this procedure is to provide you a way to dispose of controlled substances without sending the drugs to DEA/OCS or having DEA/OCS authorities witness the disposal.
