WHERE IS MOON LAKE?
Moon Lake is “OUT OF THIS WORLD BUT STILL IN UTAH” Moon Lake is located in the northeast quadrant of Utah in an aspen and lodgepole pine forest. It is approximately 70 miles west of its more famous neighbor, the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area at the Wyoming border, close to Colorado. It is 32 miles north of the town of Duchesne (pronounced DOO SHANE) on US 40. From Duchesne, it is accessed via SR 87 north and the county road through Mountain Home to Moon Lake. (See MAPS page with directions on this website) Moon Lake is approximately 140-180 miles east of Salt Lake City and the cities on the Wasatch Front, typically a 3-3 ½ hour drive from there. NOTE: WATCH YOUR SPEED 20 MILES WEST OR EAST OF DUCHESNE, Especially On A FRIDAY Or SATURDAY Evening. The Utah State Highway Patrol Does An EXCELLENT Job Of Enforcing Speed Limits On This Stretch Of US 40.
