How many people are struck by lightning?
In the United States, lightning kills 75 to 100 people each year. Lightning safety experts estimate that there are 10 times as many lightning-related injuries as deaths, totaling several hundred to a thousand injuries each year. Some of these injures are reported to authorities; many are not.
