What are Federal Appropriations?
• Federal Appropriations are funds signed into law by the Congress of the United States. In 2007 the U. S. Congress allocated $294,000 to the WECRD for the year 2008. Since February the WECRD has been following all guidelines (and there are lots) set forth to receive the $294,000. Right now the WECRD is complying (through the pro-bono work of Bionomics) to complete an environmental review of the property. Rep. Mike Simpson and his staff are helping the WECRD. Rep. Simpson has promoted the WECRD’s need faithfully through the years because he understands what this facility will do for Mountain Home, the over 7,000 veterans that reside in Elmore County, the active duty families that live in Mountain Home and the thousands of children of military families that attend school in Mountain Home. Now that Western Elmore County has grown significantly, a new cheese processing plant is operational and Singapore is sending its Air Force delegation to Mountain Home the facility is even more needed.
