How was the WECRD created?
• The WECRD was created at the behest of the City of Mountain Home in January 2000 to pursue the building of an indoor recreation center. 1998–2000: the city examined the need for an indoor recreation center through an all volunteer committee called the Blue Ribbon Committee. After 2 years of extensive work, research and community input by the BRC the city determined it could not financially undertake the project. *The BRC continued its work as an independent volunteer group and completed all the tasks necessary to put the question of forming the WECRD to the voters in the general election of 2000. The WECRD received over a 60% majority in all 9 precincts, thus the WECRD was formed and recognized by the State of Idaho. The WECRD is a governmental body controlled by Idaho Code. The WECRD is a completely separate entity from the city of Mountain Home. The WECRD generates its own revenue stream and is not governed by the city. The WECRD’s decision making is done by the WECRD’s 3 Directors
