How does white dog fur stay so clean?
I guess it is not much different from my light colored yellow Lab/Shepherd mix. She can go in the ocean, be all sandy and dirty, and when she has dried her skin is good and her hair is nice and clean. The sand has disappeared magically! My English Setter mix who is mostly white, also can get really dirty and later looks nice and clean and white again. I have a Border Collie mix who is always clean too, and these dogs play hard and get really dirty. Shedding may help some as the hair is coming out quickly and being replaced by nice clean hair. Of course your Poodles, Bichons and Malteses do not shed. There must just be something in the hair that repels the dirt. I know labs have coats that are water repellent, and also Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. Other dogs with white coats must stay clean naturally like my dogs do. Groomers use a whitening shampoo which makes your white dog look really white! They almost look bleached compared to before grooming. American Eskimo Dog.
