Im glad you asked. Almost all of the items mentioned in the other opinions can be purchased after you decide you need them. When you get hurt, you dont have that luxury. It really is that important. For the past 3 years, I have worked as an EMT. The first year of that time was spent volunteering for Brandeis Universitys Emergency Medical Services, essentially the schools ambulance. The number one emergency I responded to at Brandeis (after alcohol related calls) was for minor lacerations or abrasions. Sprains were a close second. **Note: When I say minor, I dont mean the injuries were small, I mean they did not require sutures or other Emergency Room services** Without the proper supplies, a wound larger than a band-aid requires EMS. On-campus response time by on-campus EMTs is between 3 and 5 minutes. Until they arrive youre going to be sitting there bleeding.
